| This MotoDiscovery Expedition satisfies the
growing trend of touring on "dual purpose" motorcycles.
This means riding on unpaved roads for a more
challenging and physically involved touring experience.
The Copper Canyon Expedition is not a rally; speed and
performance are secondary to the emphasis of discovering
the exciting cultures and natural beauty of the Copper
Canyon. |

The Copper
Canyon Expedition is special in that it offers a rare
opportunity to enter the world of the Tarahumara Indian.
It's difficult to comprehend that only hours from the US
border thrives an aboriginal group known for their
running stamina, reclusive behavior and their stubborn
resistance to the structures of modern society. Many are
cave dwellers. The first time you encounter a
Tarahumara, touring will take on new meaning.
Riding on unpaved roads for a more
challenging and physically involved touring experience.
The Copper Canyon Expedition is not a rally; speed and
performance are secondary to the emphasis of discovering
the exciting cultures and natural beauty of the Copper
Canyon. We recommended that riders have at least
some experience on unpaved roads. The routing is only
moderately technical with occasional optional routes
offered to accommodate different levels of rider
experience. As with all MotoDiscovery Expeditions, a
dual purpose, street legal, four-stroke motorcycle is
required. Passengers and non-riding guests may ride in
the support vehicle on a space available
basis. |

Highlights
- A special
kind of ride for a special kind of rider.
MotoDiscovery Expeditions attract those who enjoy
challenge thus creating a bond and special group
dynamic.
- Crossing the
Sierra Madre Occidental from Hermosillo to Creel
provides the participants with an incredible road
riding experience thorough hundreds of miles
scenic twisties.
- The canyon
descent to secluded Batopilas is described by many as
the "ride of a lifetime". The nearly 5,000 foot drop
from the high pines of the cool Sierra Madres to the
deep tropical country of the Barrancas will be the
highlight of this adventure. The town itself is
trapped in the last century; an opportunity for you to
experience the authentic Mexico.
- Mexico's
cultural diversity is apparent in the Mennonite
community near Cuauhtemoc. You will be privileged to
drop into the world of this religious sect, one that
shuns modern technology and is in conflict with the
modern societies.
- Your "go
anywhere" dual purpose motorcycle permits you access
to the life of the Tarahumara Indian. It is not
uncommon to encounter these aboriginal peoples in the
backcountry.
