Day 1 Scottsdale to Sedona – 211 mi
You’ll approach Sedona through the Western passage, via the Prescott – Jerome scenic ride. The blue water of the cactus studded Lake Pleasant, the greens of the Prescott and Kaibab National Forests and multihued formations of Red Rock Country will entertain your eyes while you roll through the twisties of the Sierra Pierta and Black Mountains. You can check-out the Vulture Mine, where gold was extracted in the 1860’s, Prescott’s famous Old West Saloon, the Palace and the rejuvenated ghost town of Jerome which is built on the top of Cleopatra Hill. You’ll spend your evening in Sedona.
Day 2 Grand Canyon Expedition – 278 mi
As you head north from Sedona you’ll ride in and then up to the rim of the spectacular Oak Creek Canyon. The tour explores the Grand Canyon via the eastern entrance, incorporating the Sunset Crater – Wupatki National Monument scenic loop with views of the Painted Desert. Hang onto your camera as you stop at the lookouts and enjoy the breathtaking views of one of the world’s 7 natural wonders, the Grand Canyon. A pleasant ride on Rt 180 takes you to Flagstaff and the late sunset will provide you with a completely different view as you descend into Oak Creek Canyon on the way back to your Sedona retreat.
Day 3 Sedona Shamrock - 192 mi (3 day trip skips this)

There are several side trips out of Sedone that you can choose from or do them all this day:

• Arizona Snowbowl – The combination of the winding road and a chairlift ride takes you to the 12356 ft high Agassiz Peak from which you can see all the way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
• Walnut Canyon National Monument – As you walk along the undercut layers of limestone in this 400 foot deep wooded canyon you can even step in select rooms of the well preserved cliff dwellings from the 13th century.
• Meteor Crater – At 550 feet deep and 2/12 mile in circumference, the Barringer Meteorite Crater is the best preserved meteorite impact crater on earth. The crater so closely resembles the surface of the moon that NASA trained the Apllo astronauts here in the 1960’s.

Day 4 – Sedona to Scottsdale 176 or 211 mi
You might want to explore Sedona’s art galleries, take an adventure ride on a Jeep tour, visit the Chapel of Holy Cross or shop at the landmark Tlaquepaque village. Take your time before you head back to Scottsdale. The scenery is changing again and the road playfully curves along as the elevation varies. A good way to stretch your legs is to visit the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park along Rt 87. Western literature fans can pay tribute to the greatest western novelist by visiting the rebuilt Zane Grey cabin in Payson. Though motorcycle salvage is definitely not your destination, the one that you’ll see just south of Payson is impressive anyway. The fast paced broad sweepers of Rt. 87 provide a perfect finale to your spectacular ride. The longer alternate itinerary follows the Lake Mary – Mormon lake – Long Valley eastern passage, which provides you with a relaxed scenic ride through the Cocconino National Forest.
